One of the most common questions we get from couples is, “How many hours of coverage do we actually need?” Here’s a simple way to think about it.
Getting ready (1.5–2 hours)
This is where the quiet, emotional moments live — a mother helping with jewellery, nervous laughter, final touches. It’s worth starting coverage here rather than jumping straight to the ceremony.
Ceremony (1–3 hours depending on tradition)
Punjabi Anand Karaj ceremonies, Hindu wedding rituals, Malay akad nikah, and church ceremonies all run on different timelines. Share your run-of-show with your photography team early so they know which rituals matter most to capture.
Between ceremony and reception
If there’s a gap for outfit changes or travel between venues, this is a great window for couple portraits in natural light — often some of the most beautiful images of the day.
Reception (3–5 hours)
Entrances, speeches, first dance, cultural performances and open-floor celebrations all happen here. This is usually where a second camera or multi-cam setup makes the biggest difference, so nothing important is missed while something else is happening.
Same-day edit consideration
If you want a highlight film played during your reception, your team will need extra time built in earlier in the day to edit — this is worth planning for at the timeline stage, not the week before.
As a general rule, most full Malaysian and Singaporean weddings need 8–12 hours of combined coverage. We always help couples map this out during planning, so nothing important is rushed or missed.
